Cakes & Pies!

Oh boy.. I do love getting the chance to try new recipes. This Thanksgiving has turned into the Season of Pies. In the next week, I will attempt 5 different pies (well 4 pies, 1 cheesecake, and a set of 2 dozen dinner rolls). When I asked what I could bring for both of the celebrations we are attending... I was given the task of bringing pies to both! And then I decided that while I was at it, we would deliver one to some friends that may need a lift this holiday season.

Here is the plan:
*Thursday dinner at my Aunt's
-- Dutch Apple Pie (E prefers the crumbly top)
--Traditional Apple Pie (I'm all about the double crust-thus two different apple pies..)
*Thursday - deliver to a friend's T-giving
--Dark Chocolate Pie (similar to French Silk Pie)
*Saturday dinner at the in-laws
--Pumpkin Cheesecake (we were assigned to bring pumpkin pie but it isn't our favorite -- so we're bringing this as a compromise -- I am excited!)
--Pumpkin Pie
--Lion House Dinner Rolls

If the recipes go well... I'll try to post the recipes or at least where I found them. Mostly I took recipes from blogs I follow and in some cases combined many recipes to make my own. Can't do anything the easy way! :)

Wish me luck in this baking endeavor!

First Post!

Soo... I have been thinking about starting a blog and wavering on when and how and what to put in it, etc. for a long time. I routinely follow others' blogs -- from big name blogs with thousands of followers to good friends blogs that focus on just sharing day-to-day life with close friends and family. I love them all as each is so different.

Well, I suppose I need to start somewhere so... here goes! Let me know what you think... and what I should write about. I most likely will share normal day-to-day musings about life while trying not to over share but but there most likely will be a focus on food (cooking, restaurants, eating) and personal finance as I tend to focus a majority of my thoughts in one way or another on either of those topics. =) However, my hubby and best friend E (the other E) and our loyal pet, O, will definitely be topics of convo because they are a huge part of my wonderful family (more on the rest of the crazy bunch later I'm sure). I don't know what I'd do without the daily love and support E (and the constance loyalness and spark of Olive).

Welcome!!
